My first ever Blog Post

Hello and Welcome, not only to my first blog of 2012 but to, my first ever blog.  The social media revolution has finally caught me and I write this first article as somewhat of a novice in this field so please bear with me as I try and step up the gears and hopefully produce some useful articles and updates on the activities of Strachan Tours.  So, lets see how this develops;

I guess a good starting point is an introduction. Well, my name is Paul Strachan, Owner of Strachan Tours based in Tayport, near Dundee and St.Andrews, Fife, Scotland.  I established the business in April 2004 and specialise in Sightseeing tours of Scotland, Golf tours, Airport Transfers and all round Chauffeur work.

The early years have whizzed by as the business has developed but prior to 2004 my background was 27 years as an Engineer based in Scotland, a world away from tour guiding.  However, a change of circumstances and hard times in the engineering industry forced a change of lifestyle.  I decided to do what I enjoy and that is driving and sharing the best of Scotland with other people!  As a child, it was common practice for me to accompany my parents on days out and regular drives in the country and this has served as a great foundation to build on, equipping me with good knowledge of the road network, the country and the many attractions which Scotland has to offer.

Today, I operate with two 9 seater vehicles and a box trailer to accommodate extra large loads of luggage and, with assistance from my drivers, Stuart and Jim, I now offer a comprehensive transport service together with a select range of day tours throughout Scotland. We also offer longer tours customised to suit for periods of 3, 4 or 5 days etc.  Golf related breaks are also on the agenda and we regularly visit many of the 550 or so golf courses that help Scotland retain the title as the Home of golf.

This year will see us continue to develop with a number of multi-day tours already on the books and, as I prepare for the year ahead, I am also looking forward to meeting everyone, offering an exceptional service and showing some great Scottish Hospitality.
